US-based automobile manufacturer Ford Motor has unveiled the new Focus EcoBoost's 1L engine variant.

The new three cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine featuring Ford ECOnetic Technology will generate an output of 100ps, while offering fuel consumption of 4.3L/100km (67.5mpg).

Scheduled to be produced in Saarlouis, Germany, the engine will be made available in three versions including the standard 100ps variant with 109g/km CO2 emissions and the 125ps version that offers 114g/km emissions.

Ford Europe vehicle line director Sherif Marakby said "With the Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost, Focus Electric and Focus ECOnetic, Ford offers customers an unrivalled power of choice of fuel-efficient family cars."

According to the company, the new EcoBoost engine features low inertia turbocharger, split cooling system and direct fuel injection that deliver output from the three-cylinder engine block.

The new engines will be fitted on the Fiesta, B-MAX, C-MAX and seven-seat Grand C-MAX as well as the EcoSport SUV, Transit Connect and Transit Courier commercial vehicles.
